About this range
Specify the connection, then the coupling
Pipe connectors join straight runs, form branches and create removable interfaces with valves or equipment. JINYI’s range includes grooved pipe couplings, grooved elbows and tees, flange adapters, repair couplings and threaded unions. Selection starts with the actual pipe outside diameter and end preparation, followed by working pressure, temperature, fluid and the required restraint. A nominal size alone does not establish compatibility. Use this category to compare connection systems; use the individual product pages for the configuration offered, dimensional schedule and quotation details.
- Measure the actual pipe OD in millimetres, including ovality and the coating condition at the sealing area. DN and NPS are nominal designations, not direct OD measurements.
- For grooved pipe couplings, identify the groove system, roll or cut preparation, groove diameter and width, gasket seat and permissible end flare.
- Choose rigid or flexible behaviour explicitly. A flexible coupling permits only its documented movement and deflection; it is not a universal expansion joint.
- Match gasket compound to the complete fluid composition and temperature range. Include cleaning chemicals, oil contamination and any potable-water approval requirement.
- For pipe repair couplings, state the defect length, pipe material, measured OD range, available straight length and whether axial restraint is required.
- For threaded unions, identify NPT or the exact BSP thread specification. Similar nominal sizes do not make tapered and parallel thread systems interchangeable.

Connection geometry and sealing control
Grooved pipe connectors for industrial piping need an agreed interface drawing before a pressure or movement claim can be accepted. Housing keys, the pipe groove and the gasket seat form one connection system. Repair sleeves use a different sealing geometry and may need separate restraint. Mechanical pipe couplings for water pipelines also require consideration of surge pressure, buried exposure, corrosion protection and access for bolt tightening. Supply the mating-pipe details with the enquiry so the proposed connection can be checked as an assembly.
- Movement: Rigid or rated flexibility
- Gasket: Compound + temperature
- Pressure basis: Working + surge + vacuum
- Restraint: State axial-force duty

Four checks before specifying pipe connectors
Use these checks to define the pipe connectors assembly before comparing prices. Record the decision against the drawing revision and obtain confirmation of the proposed model’s limits.
- Identify the interface Record actual OD, wall thickness, end condition and the required grooved, plain-end or threaded connection.
- Define the sealing duty List fluid, concentration, operating and design temperatures, working pressure, surge and vacuum exposure.
- Check movement and restraint Provide axial force, permitted deflection, support spacing and any settlement or thermal movement at the joint.
- Agree the assembly details Confirm housing, gasket and fastener references, coating, tightening instructions and the inspection record.
Dimensions and service conditions should be agreed before ordering.
Mechanical pipe couplings for water pipelines
For pipe connectors, send the pipe material, actual OD, wall thickness, connection type, fluid, pressure and temperature. Add groove or flange drawings, required movement, restraint duty and quantity so the quotation identifies the complete housing, gasket and fastener combination.
- Existing pipework A field measurement sheet should include OD at several positions, surface damage and remaining straight sealing length.
- Branch connections State run and branch sizes, outlet orientation, hole-cut dimensions where applicable and branch support requirements.
- Valve interfaces For a flange adapter, supply flange standard, nominal size, pressure designation, facing and bolt-hole pattern.
- Procurement package Include quantities by connection type, spare gasket needs, installation sequence and the required delivery location.
Send drawings and the item schedule with your enquiry.
Inspection requirements for pipe connectors
A connector inspection plan should verify the dimensions that determine fit and the materials that determine sealing performance. Specify acceptance criteria on the purchase order; a pressure rating for one housing, gasket and pipe combination cannot automatically be transferred to another.

Selection questions
Can a grooved coupling replace a repair sleeve?
Not by size alone. A grooved coupling requires compatible prepared ends; a repair sleeve seals a defined length of existing pipe. Select the connection for the actual pipe condition and required axial restraint.
Does flexible mean unrestricted movement?
No. Obtain the selected coupling’s axial and angular limits. Thermal movement, settlement and pressure thrust must be checked together with anchors and supports.

Installation questions
What information prevents a wrong gasket?
State the fluid name, concentration, temperature limits and cleaning process. A gasket described only as rubber is insufficient for a reliable selection.
How should mixed pipe materials be joined?
Provide each pipe’s actual OD, material, stiffness and end preparation. The proposed coupling must explicitly accommodate both ends and the project’s restraint and corrosion requirements.
