About this range

Design the access around the vessel

Tank manhole covers provide a removable closure for inspection, cleaning and maintenance access. JINYI lists round bolted, oval bolted, swing-bolt and davit manways, with tank heads and other closure components in the same category. Stainless steel manways must be selected for the vessel geometry, medium, temperature and closure duty. A cover suitable for an atmospheric tank is not automatically suitable for pressure or vacuum. The clear opening, rather than the cover’s outside diameter, determines the available access.

  • State whether the manway is for hand access, inspection or personnel access. Record the clear opening dimensions and any internal obstruction below the neck. Compare the round bolted manway and oval bolted manway when checking the opening geometry.
  • Specify positive design pressure and vacuum separately, including cleaning and draining conditions. Do not infer a pressure rating from cover thickness or bolt count.
  • For stainless steel tank manhole covers for process vessels, define exact material grades for the neck, lid, fasteners and all wetted surfaces.
  • Match the gasket to product fluid, concentration, cleaning chemicals and temperature. Define the gasket section and replacement reference on the assembly drawing.
  • Check opening direction, hinge or davit sweep, lid mass, lifting arrangement and clearance to nearby platforms, insulation and piping.
  • Tank heads are vessel shell components, while a complete manway includes a neck, sealing face, closure and fastening arrangement. Specify each item by its actual function.

Neck geometry, closure load and access

Custom bolted manway covers for storage tanks require coordination with the vessel fabricator. Supply the tank wall thickness, curvature, neck projection and attachment detail, together with corrosion allowance and service conditions. For bolted tank covers, the sealing face, gasket compression and fastener arrangement must form a documented closure design. If hygienic service is required, define the wetted finish, weld treatment and cleanability criteria in the order. A material grade alone does not establish hygienic compliance or a pressure-vessel approval.

Use these checks to define the tank manhole covers assembly before comparing prices. Record the decision against the drawing revision and obtain confirmation of the proposed model’s limits.

  • Define the access task Choose inspection, maintenance or entry access and state the minimum unobstructed opening.
  • Review the vessel interface Record shell curvature, thickness, neck height, orientation and the required attachment weld detail.
  • Specify closure components Identify lid, gasket, bolts, hinge or davit and any locking or lifting arrangement.
  • Agree the acceptance record Set dimensional, material, weld and leak-test requirements against the approved vessel and manway drawings.
